It actually went fairly smoothly today. I had forgotten how little and scared they all are the first day! My homeroom seems pretty decent…we’ll see how they are in two weeks. My other class is a bit feisty though, nothing major, but more than was acceptable for the first day when they should be scared and silent. I managed to put the smackdown on it pretty quickly, very calmly and with my ‘quiet’ teacher voice.
I saw a lot of my old students, they were super cute and many of them wanted hugs and to tell me about their summer. I was expecting them to be much bigger than they are, not many of them seem to have grown much yet.
Tequila is back. If you don’t know about the Tequila factor you should look here, here and here for some prime moments. She looked ok and at least she was in uniform. She sat by herself and she did smile at me as I walked past in the hall; we’ll see how often she bothers showing up this year.
